Six New DAF Trucks for Peats Soil
DAF Trucks are an easy choice for any company wishing to minimise their impact on the environment. Which is why the latest additions to Peats Soil’s growing fleet include six new DAF FTT CF530’s.
Peats Soil, run by Managing Director, Peter Wadewitz and his team, employs almost 100 people and is a family run company with a vision to be a world leader in sustainable and innovative organics recycling.
Operating from three depots located in Willunga, Langhorne Creek and Dublin, as well as Whyalla, Peats receive and process much of Adelaide’s green organics, including sludge, manures, food organics and green waste, to create an incredible landscaping product, all while diverting waste from landfill.
Pete is a special type of eco-entrepreneur who has built his business by regarding unwanted organic materials as a resource rather than waste. He has been the Managing Director of Peats Soil and Garden Supplies since 1974 and he is so well respected in his area of expertise, as well as being community and environmentally supportive, that he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2020.
“I just do what I do because I am so passionate about it. I have been involved in composting for 50 years. You have your head down and your tail up, because you believe in what you are doing,” says Peter.
With the Pete and the company’s commitment to reducing their environmental impact, it should come as no surprise that Peats Soil’s new DAF Prime Movers are run by Euro 6, 530hp 13-litre engines, delivering higher torque at lower revs, demonstrating DAFs industry leading fuel efficiency.
The CMV Group, CMV Truck Centre’s parent company, have been working with Pete and the Peats Group team for many years.
Most recently Paul, CMV Truck Centre Sales Manager, has been working closely with Greg Rubenhold and Tim Richardson of Peats Group, on the new DAF additions.
“All six of their trucks are on contract maintenance through CMV, so we see them all at least once a month. The guys at Peats are always a pleasure to deal with,” says, Paul.
It appears that the feeling is mutual, according to Peter, “I’m very impressed. They [CMV Truck Centre] guaranteed that a truck would be there available if one of ours takes longer than the agreed service time for some reason such as if a spare part is out of stock.”
While many companies choose to sub-contract out their supply chain, Peter believes there are many benefits to having control over it.
“The first and foremost reason is we believe we can give our customers the service when they want it. Years ago, I went down the road of subbies and they couldn’t do the job and get to the customer on time or they would argue over a price,”
“…I’ve got people in my company who keep saying sell the trucks and sub-contract all the transport out. But I’m also a bit of a passionate truckie,” Pete explains.
A passionate truckie knows a great truck when they see one.
The DAF FTT CF530’s features leading edge design for increased manoeuvrability, impeccable driver comfort, Stabilink rear axle suspension that can handle the highest payloads, and excellent safety features including; Forward Collison Warning and Lane Departure Warning System.
As well as standing out from the crowd, all of Peats Soil’s new DAFs are fitted with hydraulics to run live bottom trailers.
Congratulations to Peats Soil on taking delivery of their impressive new DAF CF Trucks. The team at CMV Truck Centre would like to extend a thank you to Peter Wadewitz, Greg Rubenhold, Tim Richardson and the rest of the team at Peats Soil for their ongoing support.
We look forward to working with you well into the future, maintaining your fleet, and assisting your company in its commitment to environmentally friendly waste solutions.
